Finding frames that suit your face is not as tricky as it seems. There are a few rules that can help if you are one of those people who endlessly try on glasses and sunglasses but never really seem to be able to make a decision.
Here are some tips from our expert stylists at Four Eyes Fashion to help you choose the right style for your face.
Long If you have a prominent facial feature, choose a style that compliments your face by softening or drawing attention away from prominent features. As an example, use a broader frame style to widen a longer face shape.
SmallDon't choose large frame styles if you have a smaller face, It's only the lucky people born with oval faces that can pull off virtually any style.
Round To make a rounder face longer, choose a frame slightly wider than the widest part of your face. Avoid round frames and choose angular shapes to lengthen the profile.
Square Reduce facial angles with round or curved styles. These will soften the jaw line and add length.
Rectangle To widen or shorten a rectangular shaped face, use round frames to balance a narrow chin or high forehead. Softer colours will also help such as Ivory or Tortoiseshell.
Diamond Try frames that will widen the rest of the face. Oval frames will compliment wide or high cheek bones. Wrap around style sunglasses can slim down the area around the eyes.
Heart or triangular Choose a frame that will broaden the longer part of the face. Try frames with a straight top line such as Caine or Pat. Round frames are more suited to female faces while rectangular frames work better for men.
All in all, face shape may be important but so is individuality. If you love them, they suit you.
